What is Live Shot Buddy?

It is a navigational application for iOS. It helps news photographers who work with microwave live trucks to tune in their signals faster by giving them directional information to their receive sites.

Is Live Shot Buddy only available on iOS?

Yes. I have started development with Android, but It may take me a little bit of time. I have to refresh my knowledge of Android and Java, then I can start converting the code.

Does it take a long time to load the session?

If the server is "asleep," then yes. It could from 15 to 20 seconds to wake the server and load the session. If you log in when the server is active, it will take less than 2 seconds. This is due to the use of a new server. Parse shut its back-end service off on Jan. 28, 2017. A free service was setup to continue support for this app.

The arrow representing the direction I should point doesn't always work. Why?

There are a few reasons for this, but mainly it is interference with the device. The iPhone is not a true compass, so it has a magnetometer that detects magnetic fields around the device. I have noticed a lot of interference when I am inside or close to my live truck. Take a couple steps away from the truck when you are looking for a reading and it will straighten up.

Will my competitors know where all our live shots are occurring?

This application does not permanently store geolocational data. Geolocational data can only be transmitted willingly by the user. The full privacy policy can be read here.

How do I select the microwave site location from the map?

Press down for a second on your map to place a pin. That pin will be the exact coordinates used for the microwave receive site. You can also press down and drag your finger around the map to slide the pin around to get a more accurate placement.

Can I delete my account?

There currently is no way for a user to self-delete an account. If you are having account issues or just want to delete your account, contact me by email at bob.jack@liveshotbuddy.com and I will take care of your issue.

Will my information be sold, is my data secure?

Your email address and other information will not be sold to any third party. Your email is used as an account name and a way to contact you if you request a reset. Your data is secure. Only you may access and change your information. Ensure you practice using secure passwords. The data you create for uploading is secured with a passcode that you generate. This allows only the people you shared the passcode with to access the stored data. For more information, read the full privacy policy here.

Why is this app free?

Sometimes the best things in life are free. I built this app to assist photographers with tuning in live shots and sending geolocation reports, so they have time to focus on the main points of their job, and not let the time crunch affect work quality and accuracy. I am changing my career path to software development, and this app is a great addition to my portfolio.
